This is obviously not your normal anime/J-culture post from me, I’m working on one to post tomorrow, but this thing/idea has been on my mind for a while now and I think it’s getting to a point of me seriously thinking of executing it.
However, I’d really like some feedback before I go any further. And normally I would ask on Twitter but I feel like nobody would see it.
So I recently bought a new microphone to use, it looks real fancy and professional, I might’ve gone overboard to be honest lol
My intentions at first with this new microphone were just to talk to my friends while we played video games or something like that but I feel like this microphone (and my money) would go to unfortunate waste if I didn’t do something else with it. That’s when I started to think more about podcasting and how much I want to come back to it after seeing other people, both in this WordPress community and non anime-related shows I’ve seen around the internet, do so.
Then after a day or so of thinking about it, I came up with this idea:
I was thinking of doing a (weekly, possibly) podcast-radio show hybrid of some sort where I talk about anime related things (i.e. news, latest seasonal anime episode discussion, some interesting topic) but also incorporate more anime or general Japanese music between discussion segments that is, most preferably, requested by you guys.
Essentially it’ll be the same as what I have done in the past with the short “chatterpasta podcast” stint that happened 6 months ago but it’ll be more similar to a radio show where music would be played frequently throughout rather than a podcast with long periods of talking. I came up with this small change because after re-listening to my past podcast episodes, it was just hard to maintain interest in myself (lmao). And because I really enjoy Japanese music and frequently talk about it on this blog and my Twitter, I feel like this would be a great “platform” to use in order to showcase my taste in music, as well as other people’s music selections. As I said, the songs (whether it be anime openings/endings or just J-music in general) would be requested by you guys, either tweeting it to me on Twitter or some other way but I thought this would be a great way to interact with my online peers.
I also promise I’ll be more of an interesting personality while talking to you guys, of course I wouldn’t change my entire behavior and personality, but I’ll try to keep people interested while they listen.
It’s also good to note that these will be on a different streaming service rather than SoundCloud since I have a precise and short limit on how many minutes I can use, and I would preferably not want to use YouTube since the music copyright policies are pretty strict there. But hopefully this new service I’ll be using would still be convenient to you.
That’s all I really wanted to say. I believe making this post was necessary, since it’s always great to get feedback from other people on an idea. That being said, if you do have any feedback or comments regarding this idea, I would love to hear them and will be used effectively towards me executing this fun project.
Thanks a bunch!
(also if you want to listen to my past podcast attempts, knock yourself out at my Soundcloud page lol)

Woah woah, fancy mic! I thought you were gonna start covering the Jpop songs you talk about for a second.
I don’t listen to podcasts much these days just because of how busy I am, but they’re always fun! Go for it if you feel comfortable!

I was actually thinking of doing some guitar covers of some songs that I enjoy (singing, eh, maybe not lol) but I think the mic would be great to do so. But thanks a lot for the feedback! 😀

If you think you can make a run at it, a podcast could be fun! And if you add some guitar playing of your own, that could differentiate you. The podcast world’s crowded, so standing out sounds like a good idea.

Not a lot of folks showcase J-Music outside of anison ’round our parts (or even in general I feel like) so yeah, a podcast that incorporates that (and actually even /talk/ about the songs) along with discussions on different media would be an interesting listen for sure 😀
