Hello, it’s been a while.

After a long period of time of being busy and not having much motivation to write, I think now is a good opportunity for me to (slowly) get back into the gist of things. I still love writing about random stuff and interacting with all you lovely people, and I just can’t see myself not blogging.

While I was away, one of the big things I was thinking about regarding the blog was a bit of a change. As you probably know, the former name of this blog was “Slice of Alfredo”, pretty much combining my love of slice-of-life style anime and my first name, Alfredo. But as time went on, I started to not feel comfortable about having my real name just out in the open anymore (lol)… I have to blame my past, uncreative self for that.

That being said, I took some time to think about a good, new name for the blog and this is what I came up with:

You might be asking, “why omunibasu?”. Good question and I’ll briefly explain my reasonings and meanings behind it.

1) My blog’s branding throughout the years has heavily been influenced by a romance anime called Amagami SS, essentially the thing that started my blogging journey. If you didn’t know, the romantic storyline of Amagami is told in an ‘omnibus’ format, with each relationship being shown in a four-episode arc. After each arc, the timeline resets back to the beginning and Junichi (the protagonist) starts a brand story with a different girl. If you’ve ever played a dating sim/visual novel, it’s basically that type of format (due to Amagami being a dating sim before an anime).

Because Amagami SS is expressed in the “omnibus format”, I thought this would be a nice way to continue the tradition of referencing this meaningful anime in some way shape or form. Plus, it’s subtle.

2) You might be wondering why ‘omnibus’ is in the Japanese romanization. Well first, just having my blog name be ‘omnibus’ didn’t exactly click with me. I thought it needed some pizzazz. So given that my blog deals with topics revolving around Japan and its various entertainment mediums, ‘omunibasu’ sounded appropriate. I also included the kana characters in the logo… mainly cause I thought it looked cool lol

3) Finally, one of the definitions for the word ‘omnibus’, according to Merriam-Webster, is “containing or including many items”. And because I talk about a ton of different things on the blog, ranging from anime to music to seiyuu/idol culture, etc., etc… that word just reflects what I do here so perfectly.

(also, the blog’s new domain will now be under omunibasu.blog)

So yeah (lol). You can tell I put a lot of thought in this name change. 😛

Umaru’s transformation here is sort of reflective of these changes…

Alright Al, you’ve changed the name. What will happen now?

To put it simply, everything else will, for the most part, stay the same. I’m not changing up how I write posts or what kind of stuff I’ll be discussing. It’ll be the same old same old, just under a different blog name (I’ll be under a different Twitter handle too, @omunibasu_blog). I just hope I can continue to write some more good stuff for all of you, which will happen soon.

Aaaand that’s pretty much it for today! If you have any comments about the blog name change, I’d be happy to take feedback (also, hope I didn’t botch the romaji or kana lol).

Thanks for reading and look forward to a music roundup tomorrow! 😀

  1. Oh my god, “Alfredo” is your real name? I always thought you were called that because you just really liked alfredo pasta, and maybe adored the concept of eating alfredo pasta in slices (alfredo lasagna?). You must have explained it in some post in the past, but I guess my brain preferred having its own interpretation…ahaha.

    1. Hahaha Well I did initially follow because I liked the pasta and the site aesthetic but this evolution is really neat and as long as you’re happy about it and what you do I’ll keep checking in.

I understand your decision, you could probably tell that I’m a few letters short of a real name and we all can’t be like “Moyatori” and use our real names all the time.

      1. I really appreciate the kind words! And I actually find the one-letter alias (plus “At the Movies”) to be nice. It’s subtle while still being able to represent yourself.

    2. Yeeep, Alfredo is my actual name. Throughout my time here on the internet, the majority of my created usernames included my name in some way shape or form due to my lack of creativity…

But that’s definitely an interesting interpretation (lol) and you are correct about one thing, that being the fact that I love alfredo pasta (and alfredo lasagna actually… sounds really good :P)
